Freddy The Skeleton Mime

Freddy was a full CG production i did by my self for my portfolio in my free time. Production time was spread out over a month, about 1~2 weeks to produce this project.

The idea was to do a full CG Production and see how far i could push it. Though, I wish i could have more time to polish the character animation and environment modeling.

Freddy

ZBrush 3.5 was used to model and paint freddy. I used the MaxforMaya model as base mesh and sculpted ontop of it. This allowed me to reuse the maxformaya rig, with out creating a rig from scratch. A real time saver that was.

First I used Maxformaya as a Zbrush base mesh. Maxformaya rig was done by Peter Starostin and James Hunt.

Sculpting ontop of the Basemesh i block out its form

Then retopologise the mesh for a more animator friendly model.

After Painting in Zbrush, Normal maps and Texturemaps were generated for maya.

The rig was reused from the Maxtomaya rig by Peter Starostin and James Hunt

Animation

I must admit the animation was abit of a rush. But i had plenty of fun doing it. Before I began i recorded my self acting the shot over and over again. I then chose the best performance and followed that closely.

I've learned that the story idea and concept is most important, and my objective was to entertain the audience, hopefully making them laugh.
